STEVE ROPER - MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINER

I am proud to be a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with multiple speciality certifications, including Underwater Naturalist, Photography, Advanced Navigation, Night, Deep, Boat and Drift Diving, Nitrox and Tri-Gas Mix. I have been actively diving for over 20 years.

As you will read throughout this site, my travels have taken me from Montreal through the entire Caribbean, both coasts of the United States, Vancouver Island, the Pacific Northwest, much of Central America and Fiji.

During those travels, I've logged over 2,000 dives.

I have taught diving along the Belize barrier reef for three years and have taught divers aging from 12 - 76 during that time with certifications ranging from Junior Open Water to Divemaster. I like to think I have the experience to comfortably introduce new divers into the aquatic realm due to my love of the ocean.

I was also lucky enough to sit on several committees involved in Belizean whale shark research and conservation legislation for the barrier reef, including Friends of Nature, York University, The Nature Conservancy and the Galapagos Society which collectively was successful in decreasing the commercial fishing operations along the reef from 33 to 6.

My proudest moment was when I was chosen to lead dive expeditions for The World Wildlife Fund to the barrier reef during their annual Board of Directors meeting in Belize, where I had the opportunity and attention of some of the world's greatest lawmakers for two days to explain how important it was to protect the Belize barrier reefs. On another occasion, I enjoyed spending a couple of days with Steven Frink, along with Scuba Diving Magazine on whale shark excursions.

Now my diving life continues to evolve with this web site. Enjoy. I hope to one day dive with you.
